Adding dimensions and measures to a table

Expand tables with additional dimensions. Add measures to collect data and calculate analysis.

KBase Tables Tables can be updated by adding new dimensions or inserting new measures.

If you are adding dimensions and measures to build a new table, duplicate the existing table as a starting point, drag it from Contents into the grid and work there.

List and measure dimensions

A table has list and measure dimensions organized into rows, columns and pages.

A completely new dimension may be added to the table using a context menu or add using an existing dimension from Contents.

All tables are multidimensional. Each new dimension added to the table expands the multidimensionality of the table.

Updating the table by adding a new or existing dimension

Adding a new dimension using a context menu

To add a new dimension right click on an existing row or column dimension (including the dimension placeholder) or use the dimension context menu

Adding a new or existing dimension using pages

In addition to adding a new dimension, the  area allows for searching through and adding an existing dimension.

When adding an existing dimension, you will be asked to allocate the existing table data.

Adding an existing dimension using contents

To add a new dimension via contents, find the dimension, left click and drag to drop on your preferred row, column or page position.

When adding an existing dimension, you will select how to allocate the existing table data.

The options are:

  1. Duplicating value. The data in the table will copy into all dimension items of the added dimension.
  2. Assigning values. Select the one dimension item that the table data will copy into.
  3. Spreading value. The data in the table will spread evenly across all the dimension items of the added dimension.
